VPK Packaging UK & Ireland has launched StackIT, a one-piece, stackable corrugated packaging solution designed to reduce complexity across supply chains, retail environments, and packing operations.
Developed as an alternative to traditional two-piece base-and-lid formats, StackIT features an integrated locking mechanism that helps keep products secure during transport, handling, and in-store merchandising. Its stackable design also provides retailers with a practical format for creating stacked fixture displays.
By combining the base and lid into a single structure, the solution is designed to eliminate unnecessary components and optimize material use. VPK Packaging says that, depending on the existing specification, switching from a two-piece format to StackIT can reduce the amount of packaging required and lower overall pack weight.
The solution made its commercial debut with an own-label chilled range for a major UK grocery retailer. This application demonstrates StackIT’s ability to meet the demands of high-volume retail supply chains while remaining straightforward for packers, logistics teams, and store operators to assemble and use.
StackIT can accommodate a wide range of products, including pouches, jars, bottles, tubs, tubes, and boxed items. Its modular design can be adapted to suit different applications, with available formats including crash lock, taped, envelope, and kidney lock constructions.
The packaging can also be configured according to the product’s characteristics. Soft products can use a push-down activation method, while hard products can use a pull-up activation method. These options are intended to support product stability while keeping the packaging simple to assemble and operate.

In related news, Mondi said in April that it had achieved a 10% reduction in production and logistics costs for Turkish technology company Argesim Teknoloji. The reduction followed the development of a customized corrugated packaging solution for Argesim’s sensor-based products. According to Mondi, optimizing box dimensions, strength, and ergonomics eliminated shipment-related production damage and reduced operational risks across the supply chain.
Last month, Boxmaker.Pro introduced the SSG1600, a compact side-seam gluer designed for short-run corrugated box production, hand-glued operations, sample work, and other applications. Typical uses include short-run straight-line side-seam work, samples, rework, special projects, and overflow jobs.
